Packing

A couple of days worth of faffing later, six boxes ready for posting to Highlands addresses.

A peek inside one:

A peek inside

To my great relief, the biggest package (for a 3-nights, 4 days stretch) actually fits inside the 35 litre rucksack along with everything else: tent, sleeping bag, cooking gear included. Weighing in at 26lb (11.8kg) I am quite pleased. I wonder if I will feel as pleased after a day carrying it.

This trick

was only made possible by swapping out the larger primus burner for a minimalist one (and saving 145g weight)

Other obsessive weight-saving efforts in recent days include ditching the headtorch (115g) in favour of a tiny rechargeable bicycle lamp (c 20g, it fits on my finger)

May your feet stay dry as you walk through the bog. May your face be unblemished as you walk in the sunshine.
