Day 34 Penkridge to Abbots Bromley

1st May 2018

Weather: Sunshine and blue sky to start. Gradual clouding over. Warm in the sun, but cold when not.

A more enjoyable day today- trees and some hills on Cannock Chase. An extended canal-side walk after visiting the grounds of Shugborough.

A brief stretch of canal outside Penkridge

That took me under the M6

Lovely setting for a house? Look closely

Yes, that’s a DHL lorry on the M6 visible within 30m of the house

Harrowed soil is much easier to cross than ploughed (I have had a few) and someone has, fortunately, led the way

Plant a tree in 73

Happy May Day from Bednall

Over the hill, whinberry and heather

Beasties at Shugborough

Canalside ideal location? Take another look

Exit pursued by a …

With thanks to Erica for coming up with a bed in AB. I was contemplating wild camping (it rained heavily overnight).

May your feet stay dry as you walk through the bog. May your face be unblemished as you walk in the sunshine.

  1. Buy a bit more space?
You passed through my birthplace, Brocton, and past the village and pub our family once owned in Tittensor and Burston.
    I don’t remember any mud.

    1. I did, but needed two technical calls to get it working.
Don’t remember? “Fings ain’t wot they used to be”

    2. Actually yesterday was the most mud-free day, especially close to Brockton. You obviously didn’t get out much.

      1. I left Brocton when only a few days old. Perhaps that’s why I don’t recall the mud…
